Troubleshooting

Common issues and how to resolve them

My fixture is not responding to DMX

  1. Verify the KLSTR. device shows a solid green status LED.
  2. Check that the correct Art-Net universe is assigned in KLSTR.ctrl.
  3. Confirm the DMX start address on your fixture matches the patched address.
  4. Try sending a full-on signal (all channels at 255) to rule out a programming issue.

The device LED is blinking red

A blinking red LED indicates a hardware fault or failed boot. Try:

  1. Power-cycle the device by disconnecting and reconnecting power.
  2. If the issue persists, perform a factory reset by holding the reset button for 10 seconds.
  3. Contact KLSTR. support if the device does not recover after a reset.

Firmware update is stuck

If a firmware update appears frozen:

  1. Do not power off the device — interrupting an update can brick the device.
  2. Wait at least 5 minutes. Large updates can take time, especially on KLSTR.nano.
  3. If progress is truly stuck, check your network connection. The device downloads firmware over the network.
  4. If the update fails, the device will roll back to the previous firmware version automatically.

KLSTR.ctrl cannot connect to the cloud

  1. Verify your internet connection is working.
  2. Check that api.klstr.cloud is reachable from your network (not blocked by a corporate firewall).
  3. Ensure you are signed in with a valid KLSTR. account in KLSTR.ctrl.
  4. Try signing out and signing back in to refresh your session.

RDM discovery is not finding any fixtures

RDM discovery requires a compatible fixture and proper wiring:

  1. Ensure your fixture supports RDM (E1.20).
  2. Verify the DMX cable includes the data return pair (pins 4 and 5).
  3. Check that RDM is enabled in the KLSTR. device settings in KLSTR.ctrl.
  4. Run a manual RDM discovery from the KLSTR.ctrl device panel.
