Setup KLSTR.one
Complete setup guide for the KLSTR.one device
The KLSTR.one is the flagship device with full RDM support and advanced configuration options. This guide covers the complete setup process.
Physical installation
- Mount the device
Use the included bracket to mount the KLSTR.one near your fixture. The device should be positioned where it can reach both the fixture’s DMX input and your Ethernet network. - Connect DMX
Connect a 5-pin DMX cable from the KLSTR.one’s DMX output to your fixture’s DMX input. For RDM to work, use a cable with all 5 pins wired (including the data return pair on pins 4 and 5). - Connect Ethernet
Plug an Ethernet cable into the RJ45 port. The KLSTR.one supports 10/100 Ethernet. - Apply power
Connect 12-24V DC to the barrel connector. The device boots in approximately 3 seconds. The status LED sequence:- Amber: Booting
- Blue: Network connected, awaiting configuration
- Green: Operating normally
Network configuration
By default, the KLSTR.one uses DHCP. To set a static IP:
- Open KLSTR.ctrl and select your device from the discovery panel.
- Navigate to Settings > Network.
- Switch from DHCP to Static and enter your desired IP address, subnet mask, and gateway.
- Click Apply. The device will reboot with the new network settings.
Caution
When using Art-Net, devices are conventionally on the 2.x.x.x or 10.x.x.x subnet. Ensure your network configuration is compatible with your Art-Net setup.
RDM configuration
The KLSTR.one supports full RDM discovery and management:
- In KLSTR.ctrl, select your KLSTR.one device.
- Navigate to RDM > Discovery.
- Click Discover to scan for RDM-capable fixtures.
- Discovered fixtures will appear with their manufacturer, model, and UID.
- Select a fixture to view and modify its RDM parameters (DMX address, personality, device label, etc.).
Firmware updates
Firmware updates are delivered over the network via KLSTR.ctrl:
- KLSTR.ctrl will notify you when an update is available.
- Select the device and click Update Firmware.
- The update typically takes 30-60 seconds. Do not power off the device during this process.
