Setup KLSTR.nano
The KLSTR.nano is a compact networking module designed to be integrated directly into lighting fixtures. This guide covers installation and configuration for both fixture manufacturers and end-users retrofitting existing fixtures.
For fixture manufacturers
The KLSTR.nano is designed for OEM integration. It connects to your fixture’s internal electronics and provides network connectivity without external cabling.
- Mount the module
The KLSTR.nano has a 40x25mm footprint with M2.5 mounting holes. Mount it inside your fixture housing using the provided standoffs. - Connect power
The KLSTR.nano accepts 5V or 3.3V DC via the JST connector. It draws under 200mA at peak. - Connect DMX
Wire the DMX data lines to the KLSTR.nano’s DMX header. Pin 1 is Data+, Pin 2 is Data-, Pin 3 is Ground. - Connect Ethernet
Route an Ethernet cable from the KLSTR.nano’s RJ45 port to your fixture’s network jack or an internal connector.
Tip
For manufacturer integration details including mechanical drawings and electrical specifications, see the KLSTR.nano specifications.
For end-users (retrofit)
If you have a KLSTR.nano retrofit kit for an existing fixture:
- Power off the fixture and disconnect from mains.
- Open the fixture housing following the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Mount the KLSTR.nano using the adhesive pad or bracket included in the retrofit kit.
- Connect the DMX adapter cable between the KLSTR.nano and your fixture’s existing DMX input.
- Route the Ethernet cable out of the fixture housing through the provided cable gland.
- Close the fixture, restore power, and proceed with network configuration.
Configuration
Once physically installed, the KLSTR.nano is configured the same way as the KLSTR.one via KLSTR.ctrl:
- Open KLSTR.ctrl and discover devices on your network.
- The KLSTR.nano appears with a “nano” badge in the device list.
- Assign a universe, set the DMX start address, and label the device.
The KLSTR.nano supports Art-Net and sACN but does not include RDM support. For RDM-capable installations, use the KLSTR.one.
